A cold morning in December of 2007 became even colder when our little Chrissy missed a step and broke his leg, forcing a monumental decision. I was home all alone, the rest of the family was off to work and poor Chrissy was in severe pain. I rushed him to a nearby veterinarian’s office and was told that due to his deteriorating health over the last year, treatment would not be an option. Euthanasia was recommended . A decision no one wants to make but sometimes has to be done. I, that day, had to decide to let Chrissy suffer or send him to a better place and let him rest in peace. The devastation of ending a life of unconditional love of our pet was very hard. The Veterinarian was kind, however, left me alone in the room with no counselor, no words of consolation and no grief materials. That evening, when everyone returned home from work, I had to share the news of Chrissy. They were livid with me for not considering them in the decision. They were not given a chance to say farewell to an old loving friend of nineteen years. I realized, after the fact, everyone needs a chance to say goodbye and have the closure they need with the their loving friend, companion and family member as my families need in my Funeral Home . So long story short, that was the day I decided to help others walk through the valley. By the loss of my loving and adoring pet, my wish and ideas have finally come together by opening a facility that truly is devoted to helping others with their loss.
